Funeral services for Floyd Lay, age 81, of Buffalo, will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Josh Gafford and Bro. Mitch Chapman will officiate the service, and interment will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery. A public visitation will take place Monday, September 17th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Wilson "Floyd" Lay was born November 22, 1936 in Lexington, Texas to John C. & Iris A. (Norman) Lay. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. Floyd worked as a truck driver for most of his life and was a cowboy at heart. He enjoyed working puzzles, as well as, working on his truck. He also liked country music and enjoyed dancing when he was younger. Most importantly, Floyd loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He had lived the majority of his life in Buffalo and was a member of the Cowboy Church in the Freestone Community. Floyd passed away September 15, 2018 in Donie, Texas. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Thelma Bea Lay; daughter, Lisa Gail James; sisters, Johnnie Mae Sherrill & Annie Marie Lloyd; sons-in-law, Billy Nickels & Willie James; brothers-in-law, James Gray & Ray Sherrill; sister-in-law, Barbara Lay and three grandchildren.

Surviving family includes sons, Allen Brice Lay (Carmen Koch) & Richard Lee Railey (Becky); daughters, Marie Aline Nickels & Tina Marie Brotherton (Billy Jim); brothers, Perry Lay (Caroline) & Ray Lay; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Gray; brother-in-law, R.H. Lloyd; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and nine great, great grandchildren.

Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
