Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Stanton, 77, will be held 11 A.M., Friday, July 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Texas. Pastor of the church, Rev. Alan Grisham, will officiate the service, and interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Texas. A brief visitation will take place Friday morning at the church from 10 A.M. to service time.
Arnita “Jean” (Hughes) Stanton was born December 7, 1943 to John Finas & Ollie (McKnight) Hughes. She was a lifelong resident of Buffalo and worked as an LVN at Freestone County Medical Center for over twenty years. One of Jean’s favorite pastimes was volunteering for the Lord’s Pantry in Buffalo. She also enjoyed flower gardening and studying her bible. Jean is described as an excellent mother and caregiver by her family. No matter how many long hours she put in at the hospital, Jean always had supper on the table, a clean house and plenty of time to give towards taking care of those she loved.
Jean passed away July 6, 2021 in Fairfield, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; brothers, John Wesley & Finas Gerald Hughes and step-son, James Dalton “Jimbo” Stanton, Jr. Her surviving family includes husband, James Stanton, Sr. of Buffalo; sons, Dale (Anita) White of Sabinal and Thomas Oren (Pamela Renee) Stanton of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Brandon Michael White, Collin James White, Aaron Bradley White, Michael Bryan Williams, Darren John White, Stephanie Renee Jennings, Shelby Nicole Hollister and Spencer Thomas Stanton and a multitude of beloved great-grandchildren. Jean is also survived by nieces, Vicky Lynn Hardy and Tracy Lynn McClesky, as well as many extended family members and friends.
