Funeral services for Nelle Taylor, age 88, of Jewett, will be held at 2 P.M., Thursday, December 28, 2017, at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Phil Smith will officiate the service. Interment will be in the Sardis Cemetery outside of Jewett, Texas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Ava Nelle Taylor was born on April 8, 1929 in Jewett, Texas to Oram G. & Ruth (Russell) Holmes. She was a lifelong resident of Leon County, living many years in Buffalo. Nelle was a very musically talented individual. She enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She also played the piano. Nelle loved to go dancing, watching television and playing bingo. She was a people person and therefore, never met a stranger. Everyone who knew her loved her and will miss her dearly. Nelle was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. She passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Jewett. Nelle was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Thomas Jack Taylor, Sr. and son, Thomas Jack Taylor, Jr.

Surviving family members are son & daughter-in-law, Joe Wayne & Mary Ann Taylor of Jewett; daughter & son-in-law, Patsy & Kenneth Dale Caldwell of Jewett; grandchildren, Thomas Jack “Red” Taylor, III, B.J. Bunn and Mellanie Weatherly Sparkman; great grandchildren, Savanna Marie Taylor & Samantha Lee Russom and great, great grandchildren, Jayden Durgan, Nico Wesley & Rylie Jo Taylor.
