May he now find the peace that eluded him for too long, and may his family be comforted by the bond that endures beyond loss.

Daniel Shane Welborn, known to many simply as Shane, passed away on September 21, 2026, in Houston, Texas, just days before his 44th birthday. He was born on September 25, 1982, in Houston, and remained a lifelong resident of Montgomery and Harris counties, places that shaped the course of his life and remained his home.

In his high school days, Shane was a star pitcher for his baseball team and held hopes of one day becoming a major league star. In later years, Shane’s life was marked by hardship as well as enduring love. His journey was not an easy one, and those who loved him witnessed both the challenges he faced and his efforts to find his way through them. Even through those difficult chapters, he was never beyond the care of those who loved him. His family held him close in their hearts, cared for him deeply, and always hoped for healing and better days for him. Beneath the battles he faced was a person who loved fiercely, and had a genuine desire to help others. His compassion and generosity were among the qualities that made him so greatly loved.

Shane is survived by his son, Brady Welborn of Willis; his father, Robert Welborn of Willis; his sister, Robbyn Welborn of Willis; his nephew, Nicholas Welborn and wife, Reagan, of Willis; and his great-nephew, Tyler. In their love for him, they carry forward the memory of Shane not only as he struggled, but as someone who belonged to them and remained an important part of their family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Pharis) Welborn, and by his paternal grandparents, Billy and Lanere Welborn.

Shane’s life was one of complexity, and his memory remains in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he now find the peace that eluded him for too long, and may his family be comforted by the bond that endures beyond loss.

A memorial service honoring Shane's life will be held 11 A.M., Monday, October 5, 2026, at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.  Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas is entrusted with final arrangements.
