In loving memory of Dorothy Thompson Durant, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished member of her family, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91, on Friday August 21,2026.

She was born on March 7, 1935, in Malakoff, Texas.

Throughout her life, she was known for her strength, love for her family, and dedication to those around her. She retired from the Dallas Independent School District, where she worked as a data entry specialist.

Her greatest legacy was the family she built and the many lives she touched throughout her ninety-one years. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she had on her children, grandchildren, and generations that followed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton Charles and Sadie Thompson; her beloved husband, Franklin Crowell Durant Sr.; her daughters, Glynda Scott, Sue Wandmaker, and Cynthia Hawley; her son, Ronald Lee Creel; and her stepdaughter, Mary Keaton.

She is survived by her sons, Franklin Durant Jr. and spouse, Sandy and Marty Durant and spouse, Deirdre, as well as her eighteen grandchildren, including Shelley Scott, Nathan Scott, Jarrett Scott, Johnathan Wandmaker, Brandy Creel, Kevin Durant, Kyle Durant, Kreg Durant, Cole Durant, Ashley Guynes, Morgan West, Derek Durant, Alyssa Garrett, Sherri Carr, Tracey Brock, Karen Seal, Kimberly Matheson, and Kathy Murtishaw, along with her many great-grandchildren and extended family.

Her life was a blessing to those who knew and loved her.

Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the generations to come.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

A funeral service in celebration of Dorothy's life will be held 2 P.M., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Dorothy's grandson, Rev. Nathan Scott, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery. A brief visitation will take place prior to the service from 1 P.M. to service time at the funeral home.
