Having been raised in Houston, Texas, Gabe's journey led him to join the U.S. Air Force after just a year of college. It was during his time in Houston that he crossed paths with his loving wife, Carolyn. Their union on July 6, 1968, was the beginning of a beautiful journey together that spanned nearly fifty-six years.
Throughout his career, Gabe's work as a store manager took him across the United States, allowing him to experience and appreciate the diverse landscapes and cultures the country had to offer. In his younger years, he found solace in traveling and camping with his family and friends, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.
A man of faith, Gabe attended the First Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas, where he found comfort and community. For the past twenty-two years, he had called Buffalo his home, becoming a familiar face in the town he held dear.
Gabe was preceded in death by both of his parents; and siblings, Cameron Dobos, Virginia Coburn and Wanda Bluhm.
Gabe is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Dobos of Marquez, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge life presented. Their love story serves as a testament to the enduring bond they shared throughout the years. He is also survived by children, Kari DeeAnn Cowey (Larry) of Seguin; Randall Dumas of Seattle, Washington and Tina Rene' Lamar (Mike) of Marquez, as well as "adopted daughter," Toni Stinnett (Shawn) of Buffalo; eight grandchildren; and an abundance of great-grandchildren who all held a special place in their "Paw's" heart. Gabe also adored each of the furry friends that accompanied him through life, and is survived by his latest fur-baby, Prissy.
A funeral service to celebrate Gabe's life will be held 1 P.M., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory. Following the service, Gabe will be laid to rest in Marquez Cemetery, Marquez, Texas, a final tribute to a man who touched the lives of those around him. Bro. Alan Grisham, pastor of First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Texas, will officiate the service. A brief visitation will be held prior to the service from 12 Noon to 1 P.M. at the funeral home.
