Gaynell Hullum, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, peacefully departed this world on December 27, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and creativity.


Born on April 11, 1925, in the close-knit Newby Community of Jewett, Texas, Gaynell was the daughter of Tom and Thelma (Jerrell) Hardee. She grew up in Leon County and remained a proud resident throughout her life. As a dedicated homemaker, Gaynell created a nurturing and loving environment for her family, making countless sacrifices to ensure their happiness and well-being.


Gaynell's faith was an essential part of her life, and she was an active member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Dew, Texas. Her strong spiritual foundation was a source of comfort and solace to her in both joyful and challenging times.


Among her many talents, Gaynell possessed a remarkable skill for crafting. An expert crocheter and seamstress, she spent hours creating beautiful and intricate pieces with her nimble fingers. She lovingly sewed countless outfits for her children, instilling in them a sense of pride as they wore each garment she meticulously made.


Gaynell's green thumb was renowned, and her love for all animals was unmatched. The tender care she provided to her garden and the companionship she shared with her furry friends brought her immeasurable joy. The beauty she cultivated through her gardening endeavors was a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit.


In 1955, Gaynell joined hands in holy matrimony with her beloved husband, Sid. Their union was a testament to enduring love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and shared dreams, setting an example of love and devotion for their family.


Above all, Gaynell cherished her role as a grandmother. Her love knew no bounds, and she took delight in spending quality time with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Her selflessness and unwavering support made her a guiding light in their lives.


Gaynell was preceded in death by both of her parents; late husband, Sid Tex Hullum and four great-grandchildren.


She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her family, including her children, Sharon LaNelle (Clinton) Cook of Tennessee, Kenneth (Reitha) Hullum of Buffalo, Katharine (Hank) Snider of Buffalo and Sidney (Netia) Hullum of Buffalo; her grandchildren, Billy Wayne (Dan) Carmichael, Rhonda Lynn Carmichael, Benjamin Bennefield, Damian (Sonja) Hullum, Logan (Jennifer) Hullum, Dolores Surlet, Randall (Christy) Hammond, Nick (Delia) Snider, Angela (Kris) Boettcher, Trenton (Meredith) Hullum and Jeni (Jim) Hamil; her great-grandchildren, Draven, Ethan, Keally, Francis, John Thomas, Ellwood, Jensen, Gracie, Beth, Ryan, Kevin, Emily, Travis, Katie, Caleb, Claire, Zackary (May), Chance, Hannah, Katelynn, Jaylee (Cole), Daniel, Tristen, Jamie, Jessie, and Rebel; and her great-great-grandchildren, Caden, Aubrey, Kinley, Matthew, Lily, Dax, Jasmine, Amelia, Kenna, and Jackson. She will also be deeply missed by her special first cousin Norma Mae Holmes of Jewett, Texas, as well as numerous extended family and friends.


Her compassionate heart, creative spirit, and unwavering love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her.


A graveside service to honor Gaynell's life will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Driver Cemetery, Teague, Texas.

Rest in peace, Gaynell Hullum. Your gentle soul will forever live on within the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
