Joan Murphy Miller, loving sister, aunt and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, at the age of 89, in Palestine, Texas. Born on September 1, 1936, in Fairfield, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Alford and Mary Lou (Green) Murphy.
Joan lived most of her life in the Buffalo and Oakwood areas, where she became a beloved figure in the community. In her younger years, she worked as a bookkeeper for a bank in Dallas, demonstrating her exceptional attention to detail and dedication. Joan never had children of her own, but she poured her love into her nieces and nephews, considering them as her own children. Known lovingly in her family as the "Favorite Aunt," she brought joy and laughter to family gatherings, always making time to share her love and wisdom.
Joan took care of her health, and she took pride in her daily walks along the country roads of her neighborhood, relishing the beauty of nature and the warmth of the sun. Her spirit and determination were inspiring to those around her, as was her unwavering love for her family.
Joan was preceded in death by both of her parents and siblings, Adell, Buddy, Claudie, Calvin, and Jimmy. She is survived by siblings, David Murphy (Jan), Sammy Murphy (Kim), Ricky Murphy, Wayne Murphy, Denny Murphy, and Margaret Murphy Waters; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
