A funeral service honoring her life will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Calvary Christian Center near Oakwood, Texas. Pastor of the church, Jack Smith, will officiate the service. Judy will be laid to rest in Siloam Cemetery. A time of visitation and fellowship will be held Monday, March 13th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Calvary Christian Center.

Judy Lynn (Champion) Mizell was born July 20, 1961 in Conroe, Texas to Maurice Charles & Mary Ann (Golden) Champion. Her family moved to Buffalo when Judy was around the age of three. They later returned to the Conroe area where Judy was a graduate of Conroe High School. Judy had attended beauty school and worked some as a beautician, as well as a rodeo secretary for numerous organizations throughout her life.

Judy married Dennis Mizell and three beautiful children were born to this union, Cody, Cara and Chad. Judy liked to give people instructions and was good at being "bossy." She often left sticky notes with instructions stuck in strategic places around the house just in case the family needed reminding of their tasks for the day. When grandchildren made their way into Judy's life, she wholeheartedly took on the role as doting grandmother. Judy's grandchildren were the light of her life. Her face lit up when they were around and she loved going to as many of their events that she could attend. Judy was committed to being a constant presence in their life and always made sure that they knew she loved them.

Judy was a talented and skilled seamstress and quilter. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, as well as cooking, and didn't shy away from cooking for her large, extended family at gatherings.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Charles Champion; son, Chad Mizell; and both her maternal and paternal grandparents. Surviving family members include husband, Dennis Mizell of Buffalo; mother, Mary Ann Champion of Buffalo; children, Cody Mizell (Mandy) of Buffalo and Cara Manahan (Garrett) of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Carrie Mizell of Buffalo, brothers, Bud Champion (Traci) of Buffalo and Bob Champion (Tonya) of Buffalo; as well as grandchildren, Maverick, Myles, Mayes, Miles, Cealy, Kinsey, Clay and Cooper. Judy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Second Loves Kids, c/o Second Baptist Church North Campus, 22770 Hwy. 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
