Julia Ann (Hayes) Scott

A homegoing service for Mrs. Julia Ann (Hayes) Scott, 71, will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, February 10, 2024, at New St. Holland Baptist Church in Buffalo, Texas. A visitation will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2024.


Julia Ann Hayes Scott was born in Freestone County on February 7, 1952 to Samuel David Hayes, Sr. and Arlee (Tubbs) Hayes. Julia was a graduate of Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Texas after transferring from G. B. Bennett. She furthered her education by attending Navarro College and Texas State Technical Institute. She earned a Certificate as an Upholsterer which led to her opening her own business - Julia's Upholstery.


Julia Ann married her high school sweetheart, Charlie Sayles Scott on August 10, 1968 and celebrated fifty-five years of matrimony in 2023. Together, they had three amazing children, Demetria Annette, Sonya Tunesia and Charles Dameron (Cerina) and loving niece, Dana Renae. Dameron and Cerina blessed them with the best grandkids in the world, Charles Cabo and Caleesi Cyan.


Julia Ann was a God fearing, devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Proverbs 31:10 - 31 describes a virtuous woman and it also describes Julia Ann. She had a contagious smile and would do anything for anyone. She was a consistent contributor to many charities and causes. She had always been active in her home church as well the Sand Hill Cemetery Memorial. She was always involved and supportive in the activities of her children, husband and grandchildren. As a talented seamstress, she was often asked and provided services to many. Julia often volunteered in the community. She provided guidance to many, and even though it was stern, it was done with love and support.


Julia Ann passed away on Sunday, February 04, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Arlee Hayes; brothers, Johnny Hayes and Gerald Hopkins; sister, Burdell Dawkins; grandson, Taylor Forest and her one and only son, C. Dameron Scott.


Those left to cherish Julia Ann's memory is the perfect example of a husband, Charlie; children, Demetria Scott-Forest, Sonya Scott-Wiley, and Dana Scott; daughter-in-law, Cerina; grandchildren, Charles Cabo Scott and Caleesi Cyan Scott; brothers, Samuel Hayes, Jr. and Donald Hayes (LoWanda); nieces, nephews, and friends. Julia Ann is also survived by sisters-in-law, Priscilla Kelly (George), Ophelia Grant (Richard); brothers-in-law, Jim Scott (Glendora), BJ Scott, Mike Scott, and Gene Scott.


Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas is entrusted with arrangements.
