Memorial services for Lisbeth Kay "Sally" (Plunkett) Vann age 83, of Buffalo are scheduled for 10 A.M., Monday, April 10, 2023 at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo, TX. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service at 10 A.M., Rev. Doug Smith will officiate the service. Sally's cremains will be interred in the Buffalo City Cemetery at a later date. Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Kay Vann was born on June 20, 1939 in Corsicana, Texas to William (Aubrey) and Dorothy (Owen) Plunkett. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1957. Kay attended Sam Houston State University and graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake City in 1978. She taught third grade for several decades in the Tomball ISD.
Kay married Thomas Vann on her twentieth birthday in June, 1959. They lived in the Houston area for fifty-five years. During her young adult years she enjoyed family camping trips, sewing, and any activity in which her children were involved. Later she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and singing in the church choir. Reading was a life-long hobby.
Kay was a member of Park Place United Methodist Church, Tomball UMC, and then Klein UMC during her time in the Houston area. She rejoined her childhood church, Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church, after moving back to Buffalo.
Mrs. Vann passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Vann; and sister & brother-in-law, Susie and Reg Teddlie.
Mrs. Vann is survived by her son, Keith Vann and wife, Toni of Hockley, Texas; daughter, Donna Vann of Buffalo, Texas; four grandchildren, Keith Vann, Jr., Ginger Vann, Maurice Vann and Jay Vann; two brothers, Don Plunkett and wife, Lana of Madisonville, Texas and Charles Plunkett and wife, Ruth of Fayetteville, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda Furl and husband, Barton of Waco, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials can be made to the Stewart Memorial UMC Memorial Fund (P.O. Box 326, Buffalo, Texas 75831) or the Buffalo Public Library (P.O. Drawer 1290, Buffalo, Texas 75831).
Arrangements are under the direction of Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
