Funeral services for Nettie Haynie, 84, of Buffalo, Texas will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Pastor of the Church, Rev. Curtis Matthys, will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Dew Cemetery, Dew, Texas. The Haynie family will receive friends Monday, June 14th from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.

Nettie Fay (May) Haynie was born February 27, 1937 in Buffalo, Texas the only child of Clifton Oneil & Lela (Voison) May. When Nettie was an infant, her father was killed in Italy. Her mother was remarried to a gentleman named N.B. Kennedy, and he wholeheartedly took on the duties of husband to Lela and father to Nettie.

Nettie grew up in Buffalo and was a graduate of Buffalo High School. She married Ebby Sloan Haynie while he was serving his country in the Army and they moved to Houston after his honorable discharge. They raised three wonderful children in Houston and retired back to Leon County where Nettie became involved in several organizations including Chapter #157 Order of the Eastern Star and the Lord’s Pantry, as well as becoming a member of Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church. Nettie was also proud to be involved with the Red Hat Ladies Band because she loved to sing. She would call each of her grandchildren on their birthday to serenade them with “Happy Birthday to You.”

Nettie passed away peacefully June 11, 2021 in Fairfield, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents; step-father, N.B. Kennedy; husband, Ebby Sloan Haynie; son, Kenneth Sloan Haynie and step-brother, Cater Kennedy. Her surviving relatives include son, Dennis (Robbin) Haynie of League City; daughter, Gail Wallace of Buffalo; grandchildren, Nevin Douglas Williams, Tiffany Evette Marshall, Candace Heather Cordova, Carrie Haynie and Julie Haynie; great-grandchildren, Blake Williams, Shea Williams, Karis Williams, Reese Schumann, Kolten Marshall, Payton Marshall, Gauge Cordova and Lex Cordova and great-great-grandson, Tate Williams.

Pallbearers: Blake Williams, Collie Williams, Brandon Marshall, Kolton Marshall, Gauge Cordova, Lex Cordova, Noel Cordova

Arrangements are under the direction of Walter’s Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas.
