Peggy Joann Lathrop

Peggy JoAnn Lathrop was born January 26, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Johnny P. and Dorothy Nell (Byrd) Ballard. She lived most of her life in Buffalo. Peggy absolutely loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved listening to music and dancing. Before she became ill, Peggy liked keeping a very clean house. She passed away August 8, 2019 at her home in the Flo Community at the age of sixty-four years.

Peggy was preceded in death by both of her parents; brother, Johnny P. Ballard, Jr. and sisters, Kathleen “Kathy” Alexander and Carol J. Noel.

Peggy leaves to honor her memory, the love of her life and husband of forty-two years, Melvin R. Lathrop of Flo; son, John M. (Tracie) Ballard of Palestine; daughters, Nina N. Barrett of Flo, Melba J. (Micheal) Laningham of Prairie Grove, AR and Kassie L. Lathrop of Palestine and grandchildren, John (Shelbie) Ballard of Palestine, Wyatt Ballard of Palestine, Blake Ballard of Palestine; Brittney Ramsey of Waco, Knoxx Ballard, Grayson Ballard, Preston (Courtney) Senter of Palestine, Haley (Richard) Bishop of Athens, Trevor King, Kymber Laningham, Kylie Stroud and Karly Stroud. Peggy is also survived by brothers, William “Billy” Ballard of Palestine and Clearance “Bubba” (Becky) Ballard of Palestine; sisters, Barbara (Gene) Sales of Lake Hills, Linda Latour of Dayton, Shirley Ward of Houston and Betty (Stanley, Sr.) Fields of Palestine, as well as many great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Peggy will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Pastor Lloyd Lane will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Parker Cemetery in Flo, Texas. A public visitation will take place Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo is entrusted with final arrangements.
