Selma B. Langston was born and raised in Buffalo, Texas, and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.  Throughout her life, she waws known for her strength, love, and devotion to her family.

One of her greatest accomplishments was moving to Houston, Texas, where she built a life filled with love and purpose. She was especially proud of raising her daughter, Donna, and cherished the memories they made together.  

Her family was the center of her life, and the love she shared with them will continue to live on through generations.  She also held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, whose lives she touched with her love, guidance, and kindness.

Selma was preceded in death by her parents, C.T. and Bessie Green; her daughter, Donna Langston; and her siblings, Minnie Reece, James Green, Ruby Lynch, Jr. Green, and Leslie Green.

She is survived by her grandson, Joseph Ryan Rangel of Houston, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Liliana Rose Rangel and Elizabeth Grace Rangel, both of Houston, Texas; her brother, David Green; her sisters, Mary Jo Thomason, Jonnie Lee, Marie Lane, Betty Gooden, and Glenda Gooden; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to celebrate Selma's life will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Walters' Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Interment will follow in Lummus Cemetery.  A brief visitation will take place prior to the service beginning at 9 A.M., also at the funeral home.
