Funeral services for Sonny Lathrop, age 82, will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home, Buffalo, Texas. Bro. Johnny Veretto will officiate, and interment will follow in Buffalo Cemetery. A public visitation will take place Saturday, December 19th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Afton Dwayne “Sonny” Lathrop was born August 23, 1938 to Henry & Gladys (Moore) Lathrop. He attended elementary school in Flo and graduated from Centerville High School. Sonny married Connie Parker January 26, 1960 and shared fifty-eight wonderful years together until her passing in 2018. Sonny was a retiree of the Texas Highway Department. He enjoyed driving his tractor, tending to his land and being outdoors. He was a lifelong resident of the Buffalo area and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Buffalo. Sonny passed away in Palestine, Texas December 17, 2020 following a brief illness.

Sonny was preceded in death by both of his parents and beloved wife, Connie Lathrop. Surviving family members include daughter & son-in-law, Cindy & Ricky McCoy of Groesbeck; sister, Norma Moore of Flo; grandson, Colt McCoy of College Station and numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
