Wanda Faye Smith, 83, of Oakwood, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2026, in Palestine. She was born on July 18, 1943, in McAlester, Oklahoma to RG & Susan (Cody) Dunlap. Wanda's childhood was marked by frequent moves to different cities throughout Oklahoma and Texas due to her father's work, before permanently settling in Leon County, Texas.

Wanda was a devoted wife and homemaker to her family throughout her life. On June 29, 1963, she married Nathan Smith, and together they shared sixty-three years of marriage. She built her life around her family and found her greatest happiness in caring for those she loved.

She enjoyed tending to her yard and flower beds and took pleasure in the simple beauty they brought to her home. Wanda loved her dogs and enjoyed driving to see the cattle. More than anything, she especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly her pride and joy, and her love for them was a lasting part of her life.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Nathan Smith. She also leaves behind her sons, Randall Smith and wife, Jennifer of Palestine, Gregory Smith and wife, Sherry of Oakwood, and Mark Smith and wife, Amy of Oakwood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brandon, Lane, Brittany, Graci, and Katie Smith, and by her great-grandchildren, Jasper, Scarlet, Shiloh, Lottie Jo, and Clyde. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Dunlap; her father, RG Dunlap; and her infant son, Robert Jeffrey Smith and four siblings.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 9:30 A.M. to 10 AM., at Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, Texas, followed by a graveside service at 10 A.M. Pastor Mark Jones will officiate the service.

Wanda will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her steady and loving presence, and the joy she found in those closest to her. Her memory will be cherished always.
